Grammar 1: Korean Sentence Order

Korean usually follows:

Subject + Object + Verb (SOV)

Examples

저는 한국어를 공부합니다.

Jeoneun Hangugeoreul gongbuhamnida.

I study Korean.

Grammar 2: 은 / 는 (Topic Particle)

These particles mark the topic of a sentence.

은 → after a consonant 는 → after a vowel

Examples

저는 학생입니다.

I am a student.

한국어는 재미있어요.

Korean is interesting.

Grammar 3: 입니다 (To Be)

입니다 means "am / is / are" in a polite formal style.

Examples

저는 학생입니다.

I am a student.

이것은 책입니다.

This is a book.

Grammar 4: 이에요 / 예요 (Informal Polite "To Be")

Used in everyday conversation.

이에요 → after a consonant 예요 → after a vowel

Examples

학생이에요.

I'm a student.

의사예요.

I'm a doctor.
